This became known from a statement by Alexei Klimov, head of the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, to TASS journalists.
The diplomat spoke about working with 9 states to revise visa requirements for short-term visits of Russians not exceeding 90 days.
Nikita Kondratiev, Head of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, noted that the start of short-term visa-free trips of Russian tourists to Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Oman, Myanmar, Bahrain and several states of the African continent is expected in 2025.
Thailand has already changed the visa-free entry status for tourists from Russia up to 60 days from temporary to permanent. These changes affected not only Russians, but also tourists from China and 93 other countries.
Since October 1, 2024, visa-free entry to Sri Lanka has been opened for Russian and Belarusian tourists, as well as for travelers from 33 other countries.
Indonesia also wants to introduce a visa-free regime for Russians in 2025.
